DEPARTMENT OF MALAYALAM
Department of Malayalam is one of the oldest departments, established in 1965, when the college was founded under the University of Kerala. In the early stages ther were only Pre – Degree courses with two batches one in Humanities and other in Science stream. The total strength of the students were three hundred, out of which, more than one – half opted Malayalam as their second language. The College upgraded during the academic year 1976 – 77. Every year around 250-325 students from BSc Botany, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Chemistry, Zoology, BA History, BA Economics and Commerce opt Malayalam as their second language.
● Publishes handwritten magazines to enhance creative thinking and innovativeness among students.
● A mini – magazine ‘Navatharangam’ is being published under the initiative of the Department.
● A book club is functioning under the department.
● For the encouragement of students to achieve high goals in their career, Malayalam department gives a good prize to the top scorer in the University Examination.
Knowledge is to serve.
‘Our vision to equip the students with tools to improve language skills and to enable them to communicate effectively in Malayalam without missing the flavours of the language. The course also intends to identify and develop the literary tastes in students, which would enhance their personality.
Our department focusing the students to become good personalities. College Central Library provide more than 3500 books in Malayalam for reading and reference purpose for the students. We have all facilities to offer BA Degree course in Malayalam to make our vision and motto more fruitful.
