Department Profile

Zoology as a subject of study was introduced when the college was established and started functioning with only Pre degree course. The department of Zoology started B.Sc degree programme under the University of Kerala in the year 2016.

• Well equipped laboratory, Museum and instrument room.
• The department has been keeping consistently good academic record throughout the years.
• A Wall Magazine is displayed in the department with contributions from the students. Recent developments in science are reported in this.
• Orientation programs were conducted by the department for each year students.
• Department conducted one day seminars, quiz competitions, poster presentations, sensitization programmes, bird watching, installation of bird bath etc thus make the students cope to live in harmony with the environment
• Zoology department in association in Trivandrum museum conducted various programmes which help the students to inculcate the power of observation and help them to be in touch with the nature and its inhabitants.

Message from HOD

Bsc Zoology is a three-year undergraduate programme encompassing aspects of scientific knowledge about animal science. The programme includes biological aspects of both living as well as extinct animals. The programme is equally balanced with both theoretical and practical sessions which will provide students the hands-on experience. B.Sc. Zoology is inclined towards modern technology which will enable students to opt for any specialisation course after degree like biotechnology, endocrinology, immunology, applied zoology, aquatic biology, bioinformatics wildlife science etc. Interested aspirants can further advance their learning by enrolling for higher education in Zoology.
